Family Fun Day

Last Saturday we decided to take the kids out one last time before the baby came. You tend to forget how house-bound you become with a little one so we wanted to get out as much as we can before she got here. We went to Salt Lake for the day. Our kids love the "train" or Trax's. They think it is the best thing every!
I love how excited Thadd gets! Tucker was just cold.
Love this happy face!
I told her to really smile and this is what we got.
That's a little better.

We rode all the way to the Clark Planetarium. They loved looking around at all the fun things they had. Tucker has been really into science lately and he just couldn't get enough! He wanted to read everything and Thadd just loves reading. Norma found the moon and Mars so we had to get some fun pictures with that. All the kids on Mars.

On the Moon.

Tucker climbing the rocks on Mars.

Thadd wants to go here!

Norma found a "big rock".

We watched the new movie there too, "Attack of the Space Pirates!" It was in the dome theater and it was cool. Nate and I both want to go back and see the "U2" movie but this was good. Norma got scared and ended up in bed with us that night but the boys loved it. We walked around the Gateway while we were waiting for our movie to start and we were able to walk right out of the movie back on to Trax's to go home. I hope it was a fun family day for the kids. It will be a long time til we go do something like that with the new baby.

Sewing projects

I have been doing a lot of sewing this last month and I thought I would put some of what I have been doing on here. I cut out 7 dresses to sew together and then found a way cute pattern for diaper bags that went together so easy that I have made a few of them too. I also made a blanket for the car seat for my friend Jenny that is getting a boy in June. She loves John Deer so that is why the blanket and diaper bag match. :) I hope you enjoy! They all turned out way cute!

Cutie!

I got this cute skirt for Norma a few weeks ago after my friend Jenny called me and wanted me to make them with her. I got on and looked at the pattern and told her to have fun making them because I would rather pay the 60 bucks to buy one then make it. She tried to tell me it would only be $30 to get the material. I still said I would rather buy one. It just so happens this one was at The Quilted Bear for $19. I couldn't say no, especially when she wanted to try on every one in the store as we walked through. She just loves it! She is very much a girly-girl. She loves that it spins and I love just seeing her sit in all the fluff! I got these really good pictures of her coloring or "doing her homework" with Giggles (her teddy bear) and Walle laying here next to her the other day.

Tucker's Baptism

Well we have decided that we are going to wait to have Tucker baptized in April. It was just too much stress on me to think about getting ready for that and the baby all in the same week. It will be April 10th at 11 a.m. I will be sending out email reminders when it gets closer but I just wanted people to know that it is NOT in March anymore. If you can plan ahead we would love to see anyone who can make it and invite everyone to a lunch at our house afterward to celebrate this special day for Tucker and to meet the new baby. Tucker was hoping she would be here for his baptism anyways so this works out.

Just a little excited

I got just a little excited to see that there are just 14 days to go til little Kate comes to join our family! It is a little more exciting to think it is really just 12. My doctor is planning on inducing me on the 3rd of March. I'm really trying to make this happen sooner so that we can still do Tuckers baptism on the 6th of March but yesterday I found out that the primary wants us to do so much of the planning. Our ward is in charge of the stake part and they assigned us to find a Chorister, Pianist, Opening song, Talk on Baptism, (which has to be someone from the ward) and that is just for the stake part in the beginning! For the confirmation part after we need to find a Chorister, Pianist and have a Musical number! I'm feeling very overwhelmed about the whole thing now and it wasn't like I have been stressing out about it in the first place trying to have a baby the same week! So after this bit of good news we are pretty sure we will be doing Tucker's baptism in April. The only thing that would make us do it in March will be if this baby comes in the next 3 to 4 days.

Tucker's New Glasses

Tucker got his new glasses today. He looks so good in them. We went to a new eyeglasses place that we found on-line that would do his glasses in an hour. It ended up being a man that worked with my Grandpa Thomas when he was younger and learned nearly everything he knows from him. It was kind of neat. I tend to forget that my Grandpa use to do this with glasses for a living. Tucker has had a headache for most of the day though. His prescription is so strong that it is taking some getting use to. One thing he said to me though was he could see the spots on the sidewalks. I said the gum and spit spots? He also was surprised to see freckles on Norma's nose. That made me laugh.

Happy 8th Birthday Tucker!

It is so hard to think that my baby is 8! We started out Sunday with a semi-birthday party at my parents house. Tucker's favorite dinner, (along with the traditional finger steaks for the Super Bowl) presents and cake. All the kids have been so excited for his birthday. I guess we have a long gap between birthdays in our family. He got some fun things from Nana and Papa, a clock, a Science book, ( he is really into science right now) a gumball machine, some bath soaps and a new DS game. Which he had to wait to open until the game was on, Dad and Papa didn't want to miss the commercials. Then we all got to have some yummy cake! Bugs Bunny. So good!
I've had a lot of fun decorating the kitchen for birthdays lately and Nate got in on the fun this time. I just love having them walk in there and see it all done up just for them. So Nate made sure he was up when Tucker got up to see his face and Tuck didn't even walk into the kitchen first, Thadd did. I think he remembered his birthday and knew what would be there. Thadd walked in there and came back out to ask me, "Has Tucker been in the kitchen yet?" "Nope. Does he need to go in there?" "Yeah!"His big present this year was a new bike. His old one was so tiny but he just loves riding! He can't wait til it warms up and he can ride to school again. We also wrapped up his scout uniform (Thanks Grandpa and Nana Powell!) so he would have something to open. Norma has been telling him that she got him a DS game, which she didn't know we had gotten for him, but was very disappointed when he opened it saying, "That's not the one I wanted to get him."It also happened to be the day that we had made an appointment to go get Tucker's eyes checked. I had gotten a letter from the school nurse saying that he had failed the eye exam at school and they recommended that we have him looked at. Thadd needed to go in and have his eyes re-checked too so we took them both in. Thadd's glasses are doing just what they hoped they would so no eye patch. (Thank goodness!) But Tucker needs glasses! I couldn't believe it! They said his vision is worse than Nate's and Nate's is really bad! He has never complained once about not being able to see and with this being the third year he has been tested at school to only catch it now? So as soon as taxes come back I'll have 2 boys in glasses. We are considering having Norma tested just because if both boys need them...

After the eye doctor we went to dinner and then to Trafalga! My kids love it there! It was so cool because we made it early enough to really have the golf course all to our selves, (lucky with it being Monday Family Night!) and they had the whole thing in black lights! I have not laughed to hard in a long time! I think the boys would have done better with hockey. And Norma was a hoot! She would hit the ball and then go pick it up, wait til everyone else and hit their balls in and then put her ball right next to the hole and hit it in. So Cute! Thadd couldn't hit the ball unless his tongue was hanging clear to his chin. (He does the same thing when he cuts paper. A Great Grandma Thomas trait.) Nate had to put my ball down for me and get it after I had hit it in the hole. I wondered why I even bothered. All in all I think he had a great birthday! It made me happy to hear him tell Thadd, "This was the best day of my life!"

9 years

It has been 9 years since I had a life changing night. I was planning on going to the movies with some friends and before I knew it I was putting on a dress going on a blind date. First thing I asked was if he was short because I had my tall shoes on. When my friend Sara walked in the door with 2 guys I just prayed I wasn't going out with the bald one. I wasn't. I learned his name was Nate and off we went to dinner. During dinner I found out he was the son of my 8th grade math teacher, Mrs. Powell. That didn't throw me off too much, I'd liked her as a teacher. He worried that I was one of those girls that didn't eat and I assured him that I wasn't, that I had just eaten before, I hadn't been planning on going to dinner. We made it to the Institute Valentine's Dance at UVSC and danced the night away! I remember coming out of the restroom after asking my friend if she thought it was going well to him sitting on a bench. I sat by him and he did the yawn and stretch to put his arm around me. I started laughing so hard! One, I had never had that happen to me before and Two, I didn't think boys really did that other than in the movies. After the dance no one wanted to go home so we went to someones apartment where like 12 people were and talked and laughed like crazy. He held my hand for the first time on the way there and I felt shivers all up my arm. He asked how old I was and I asked how old he though I was. Sara had told him I was 21 so I said I could be 21 for the night. (I was only 18 but when he told me he as 23 I was a little taken back and I didn't want him to not like me because I was younger.) It was 2 o'clock in the morning when he finally got me home and I was a little disappointed that he didn't try to kiss me. I woke my mom up and told her all about my night and all about the boy named Nate. She knew than that he was the one I was going to marry. (Of course she didn't tell me that then.) What a night to remember! I'll never forget it because I'm sure that was the night I fell in love. He won my heart that night and he still does to this day. He knows how to make me laugh and knows just what I need to hear. His hand in mine makes everything better and his hugs are healing. I love him as much today as I did back then and it grows with every year we have together. I love you Nate! Thanks so much for being willing to go on a blind date 9 years ago. I know I am.

Birthday Cards

I've wanted to post these for some time now and I've finally remembered. I have the best calling in my ward. I am the Relief Society Birthday Specialist. Basically I get to make the birthday cards for the ladies in the ward. I LOVE it!!! I have so much fun doing this! I don't always get the cards out on time but I do get them out. With the baby coming I wanted to make sure I didn't get behind in my cards so I made them ahead of time. I love my calling and I love making cards. I have sort of fell out of scrapbooking, ( the last thing I scrapbooked was Halloween 2008) and I am hoping to get back into it soon but I have just loved making all these birthday cards. This is January's card. Not one of my favorite but I didn't get these made till right before January so it was a quick one. But I like this idea of using a can top for a buckle.

Love, Love, LOVE this card! I was so excited when I saw it in the book and just knew I needed to make it for my February cards! I ended up getting this perfect purple color from my Stamping Up lady, Ashley. You can see her blog if you go to my side bar and click on
Design with Ink. I love it!

This is March's and I used that amazing purple color that I got! I love this color and will end up using it all up. I really wish it wasn't going out of season in July. I'm just going to have to stock up on it. I love the balloon and I use them a lot in my cards.

This is April's. I will glitter it later when it gets closer. Glitter gets everywhere but it makes the cards look so much better.

I would put May's up but they are not done. I need to go visit a friend to finish them. She has the tools I need to do that but they are one of my favorites with ladybugs on them.

This is June's card. I only made 2 of these with this color. I'll end up making the rest with that awesome purple color!

I don't think I could have a better calling. Maybe some one to hand them out for me because I am terrible at getting them out on time, but I really do enjoy this calling. I get to put names to faces of the ladies in the ward which is really good for me because I am awful at remembering names. I have also made some really cute Thank You cards for after the baby comes. Nate told me he was glad I didn't have this hobby when we first got married because I didn't send out
Thank you card for our wedding. Sorry, it just took my nearly 9 years to enjoy this kind of thing.
