Bountiful Basket

I just love the bountiful baskets!  Its been so long since I have gotten one that I was a little nervous about what would be in it.  No worries!  It was a beautiful basket and I'm sure we will eat every last thing in there. :0)

Random Pictures from the week

Here are a few pictures from during the last week. Nate has borrowed this kiln from my dad and used it to put the lead in the pinewood derby cars. I was wondering what he was thinking setting it up in the kitchen but I wasn't going to say anything because he was doing it.

Next thing I hear is, "Don't come in here!" So what does that make me want to do. I come in to see all the boys standing back from the counter and looking at the floor.
Yep, that's lead on my kitchen floor. I'm just grateful that it didn't splash on any BODY and just the floor. It cleaned up okay and didn't even leave a mark on the floor. That makes for one lucky husband. :0)

I let Norma play her DS yesterday and next thing I know this is where I found her.
I guess she was wanting it darker. If you look closely, you will see that it is a picture of her Daddy that she is drawing on and making funny faces with. She loves that it has a camera on it and she can take pictures with it and draw on them. She took one of me and made it so I was covered in flowers.

And I just wanted to through this picture of these muffins. They are banana oatmeal and my kids LOVE them! Norma has had one with lunch every day. Tucker and Thadd like them for snacks. I like them for breakfast with a little peanut butter on them. Yum!

Pinewood Derby

It was the Pinewood Derby tonight and it was one crazy night but so much fun! The Wolf Den makes up most of the Cub Scouts so it was so much fun to see all of my boys there and having a good time. They are all such good kids and having all 10 Wolves there just was amazing for me.

Here is most of the boys. They were really good about staying back and not having to get in there. I have to say, how proud I am of Nate for letting Tucker do most of his car. He really just stood back and let him do what he wanted with it and helped when he was asked too. I had one Dad walk in and say, "Here's my car, I..I mean my scouts car."

Brother Haskell really knew how to work the boys up and did an amazing job keeping the excitement up.
Here are all of the cars. We had some really cool ones. I saw the Steelers bus and thought of Larry. :0)
Tucker's is the Wii remote. He had talked with his dad about doing a skateboard of some sort and then I saw that someone had done a Wii controller on Facebook and it was the Wii from then on out. He just loves video games.
Tucker with his car. He did so well. Being a leader I sneaking and found out that Tucker won 5th over all. They weren't giving out awards for more than the top 3. His car came in 2nd whenever it raced which made him 5th over all.
Close up of his remote... I mean car. :0)
Tucker ended up winning one of the main prizes of the Best Car. We had awards for all the boys and for the most part they were all really good sports about the whole thing. I stood behind them for a while and listened to them cheer on each others cars and hoot and haller. It was so much fun!

Family weekend

Again, no photos but that's okay. We didn't really do anything picture worthy. We did have a wonderful weekend being just a family. We didn't have anything to do, or anywhere to be. We played games, ate junk food and just had a wonderful weekend together. Nate did work on Tucker's pinewood derby car with him. The race is on Wednesday so I will post pictures then. Just know that we kind of stole the idea from facebook. :0) Can't wait for Wednesday.

Hill-billy Kate

Doesn't she look like a little hill-billy with her one tooth on top and then when she grins and makes her squinty face... too cute!

Our little getaway

It was our yearly cabin trip this last weekend. What a great weekend. It may have started out rough with the kids being a little under the weather. I told Nate that we were going to have to cancel going but was informed that there were many years that he went up to the cabin sick and we were not going to let a little fever stop us from going.

We got up there Friday night with our family, Devin, Celest, Jered, Stephanie, Maddy, Eli, baby James and then my brother John showed up really soon after. Justin and his kids showed up later that night right before bed so we had a good crowd at the cabin this year. I love this next picture. It is always cold when we first get to the cabin and we try and get the kids to keep on their coats but Norma is a little stubborn. So Celest was wrapping her up in her coat with her and Kate went right over to her and climbed right up on her lap too.
We got settled in and were just sitting around when John wanted Celest to help him open a birthday gift he had. (His birthday was earlier in the week.) So of course the kids hear present and want to help. Norma, Maddy and Eli go with John to get the gift and he has them hide it behind their backs and come out and hand it to Celest. It's this cute little horse with a saddle bag on. Little did I know that it had a ring in it! John proposed right there at the cabin in front of us all!
I am so happy to be getting Celest for a sister! Winni is pretty upset that he did it in front of me and without her there but all I can say is, HaHaHa! I am so happy for my brother and come May, I'll have another sister. Celest has been a great addition to our family and I'm glad that they could come spend the weekend with us.

Eli with the horse. The kids loved playing with the horse and Norma even slipped up a few times and called it "her" horse but would correct herself and say it was Celest's.
Saturday was a day filled with games, sledding, snowball fights, snowmen, food, movies, naps and just a little fighting. Thadd was my sledder this year. He was out nearly all day. He would go out and get sopping wet, come in, we'd throw his clothes in the dryer and as soon as they were dry he would go out again. Devin did a lot of sledding with him and Andrew came out too for a bit with him. They would chain sled down. I wish I would have gotten more pictures but I was planning on taking more on Sunday and then we didn't go out at all on Sunday. It rained most of the day. Maddy, Anna and Norma really hit it off though and had a ton of fun playing together. Here they are in the kitchen, pages ripped out of coloring books, coloring a picture for everyone. Eli was in there too but I missed getting him in the picture.
It was a really nice weekend. We did miss Heather and her family, she had to go out of town for work so they couldn't come. It didn't seem like it was complete without her.

Here are just a few random pictures of Kate. She has learned to wave and she loves to wave at people now. Her other big thing is she is scooting across the furniture to walk. My baby is growing up too fast! I don't even want to think about her turning 1 in a few weeks...

Sunday Morning

I wanted to post even though I don't have any pictures to post with this. I still want to try to post at least once a week even with out pictures but I promise I will try to take pictures this next week, we are going to the cabin so of course there are going to be pictures. ;)

I feel bad that I update about Kate the most but right now she is the one changing the most day to day. Just a few things that have happened with her the last two weeks.

-She has gotten two more teeth. A total of 3. The two bottom teeth and one top. I put her hair in a pig tail on the top of her head this week and with her two little teeth, (one bottom and one top) she looked like a hill-billy. A very cute one though.
-She is pulling her self up on her feet more. She even scooted across a chair to get to a toy she wanted that was just out of reach.
-She is climbing stairs! I found her on the landing just today, trying to find the kids who had gone up stairs to get away from her. This is the scariest one of them all!
-She loves to sing. She will just "ahh" away and it is so cute! She is always making noises and getting louder.

Just some other side notes. Tucker has joined the Chess Club at his school and is loving it. He likes that he knows some moves that the other kids don't that he learned from Gerald. Nate has started school again. He is taking 3 classes so I don't plan on seeing him for the next few months between school, overtime and work. So I am very much looking forward to this next weekend up at the cabin. Can't wait!

Deer

We had Heather, Zac and Devin over for dinner tonight and as we were sitting chatting Heather happen to look out the back door and see deer. All the boys had to run and see, Nate took all the kids into our room to show them from our window and then Nate got the camera.Nate took these from our bedroom window. It's the field right behind our house.

There are 7 deer. Nate was impressed with the buck. He said it was bigger than "Limpy", the deer that got away during the archery hunt last year.

Last time we saw deer this close to our house was 4 years ago while we were building the house. So glad to have them back.
