White Belt

Thad has been taking Karate classes and loving them.  He got them for his birthday and today he earned his white belt.

He was able to break a board.  He broke it into 4 pieces.

Broken board and white belt. :0)
He was also picked to help lead most of the class today.
 My serious boy.
He has had such a wonderful teacher.  I have really enjoyed watching him work with these boys and Thad has had so much fun.

Half-way Point

I wanted a picture of the half-way point to the new place.  :0)

I love this picture. :0)

Butterfly Wings

Nate found these butterfly wings today at the dollar store and had to get some for Katy.

This was her pose.

Norma and Katy have had a blast wearing them all day long.  That and we are all covered with glitter. ;0)

What's up with the tongue?

I have a picture of this on my phone and didn't know if I have every shared them here.

Eva likes to take a bath with Norma and Katy.

Fruits of our Labor

This is the only picture I got of the veggies from our garden.  We were cleaning it out and the neighbor kids helped pick the goods. :0)
We really enjoyed having the onions and I loved picking a fresh tomato for lunch every day.

Birthday Time at the Powell's

I decided that I was decorating the house for Thad's birthday whether we were having showing for the day or not.

I love when Tucker came down stairs and looked in the kitchen, "Just what I thought." when he saw the streamers.

After the whole deal with my foot, I still wanted to go with what Thad had picked to do for his day.  He wanted Chicken Alfredo from Costco and go bowling.  We surprised him and invited his friend Ira to come with us for the evening.

Opening his gifts while I kept my foot up.
In the car ride on our way bowling.
I just loved the colors!  I had to take a picture of all the balls the kids picked.  You would never guess which one was Thad's lucky ball.  :0)  The pink one.  I know, shocking.
I couldn't get them all to look at me.  They just wanted to play.
Katy got to help me.  I really needed to do her hair.

Then, since I couldn't bowl, I got carried away with the camera and the color feature.  Loved that they all were in orange.  Norma came down today and said that she had worn orange just because it was Thad's birthday.

Tried to catch the high-five.  Bit blurry.

Katy wasn't in orange so I had to get her color.

It came down to the last frame.  Ira was beating Nate's score by one and so Nate let Katy roll the last frame.  She got a strike. :0)

We went to Arctic Circle for some ice cream cones.

I hope that my boy had a wonderful day.  My mom had brought up the day that he was born and I get so emotional thinking about it.  I love my Thad-man and am so glad that he is mine.

Flip-flops are No Protection

*If you get squeamish don't read.  I might have a hard time writing this. :0/ *

Check it out.

Flip-flops are no protection against mulch.  The mulch will win every time.  We were leaving Wal-mart and who knows how, I'm just good I guess, but I stepped off the curb and ended up with a piece of mulch in my foot through my flip-flop.

Now I'm going into detail for those of you who want to know. If you don't, skip this part.  I had to pull the wood out of my foot just to get my shoe off.  I stood there and let my foot bleed all over the parking lot. ;0)  Hopped over to the car and got a look at my foot.  There was a hole as big as the tip of my pinky finger in the bottom of my foot.  We couldn't tell if there was any thing in my foot.  There was something black and we didn't know if it was part of my flip-flop, a piece of the bark or just from it being such a big hole.

The whole reason we were at Wal-mart was to get treats to take to Thad at school for his birthday so we took the cold stuff home, dropped Kate off next door, went to the school, checked out Norma and headed to Instacare.

I was so happy to see Lori from our ward was the nurse that helped us.  I was not looking forward to what I knew they would have to do.

Did you know that having the shot to numb up your foot hurts worse then the tetanus shot I had to have.  And you all know how I feel about needles.  Then here is where I nearly lost it.  The doctor really dug around in my foot to make sure that that there was not anything in there.  So much blood and I could feel how deep he was digging.  It took everything in me not to lose it.  He finally decided that there wasn't anything in there and told me to stay off it to let it clot up.  If it was to get infected to come in to my regular doctor for a prescription.

So much for bowling for Thad's birthday.
