Perfect Snow

For a snowman.

Since the snow was so perfect to go play in, I kicked the kids out.  Not only did they love it, they begged to go out 3 other times.

It was so much fun to watch them build this snowman.  My kids haven't had much success before and they loved that this snow worked so well.

They had to build a ramp up the bottom ball to get the second one on there.  It was so big!

Then I handed out things to dress up their snowman.

I didn't want to go out in the snow so I had Tucker take the camera to get closer pictures.  They all took turns with the camera and had a blast taking each others picture.

Yes, Thad is licking the snowman.

Snow Anyone?

When I let the dogs in this morning, this is what I opened the door to.  Why I didn't see all this snow before I let them out?  Only one explanation.  Two early mornings in a row.  3 a.m. has come both mornings to Nate's wonderful ringtone with dispatch on the other side asking him to come out.  Yesterday, a phantom car needing help.  This morning an accident that we could see from the house.  So now is there not only 3 inches of snow outside, (there has been another inch since I took this picture and it is still snowing hard) with a sheet of ice underneath it, I am one tired Momma.  I've been doing homework when Nate leaves instead of going back to bed.  Bed probably would have been the smarter choice.

On a side note.  I've decided that I like hearing about Nate's day at work AFTER he gets home.  Not before he has to go and do things that I would rather not think about him doing.  Like a having to enter a house by force because some guy is inside with a gun.  Or going 150 on the freeway to catch up to a semi running the port.  Or following a drunk for miles before finally getting them to pull over without crashing.  Or having to go to the strip club.  Man, his life is so hard.  I'm so glad that he loves his job and he tells me these things with a smile on his face.  Just like a little kid with a sucker as big as his head. :0)

She got her Pony!

Potty Training has been not happening in this house.  I am just kicking myself for not making sure that this was done before I started school because I have no time or patience for it now.

I managed to get a little caught up with school so I took a day and cleaned my house that hasn't been cleaned since I started school and start the potty training process over again.

Day 1.  Success!!!  She only had one accident, when she would realize that she was "watering" she would stop and run to the potty, and we finally achieved the impossible.  #2 in the potty!  She earned the pony, or "koney" as she says it.

She couldn't be happier, I couldn't be happier and we love the sticker chart reward system.  Works like a charm!

Typical Day

This is what my house looks like most days.

I sit and do homework.

Katy makes a mess of the whole house, this is just a picture of the living room.  Lays on the couch and watches Dora most of the day.  Stays in her jammies all day long.  Sometimes my family gets dinner.  :0)

Grades

Kids came home with their grades today.

Had to have them on the fridge, or at least as long as Katy would leave them there.  Which wasn't very long.
Tucker's grades.  The one C+ is because we came in part way and he missed a big test.  :0(
Norma is the top of her class!
Drum roll...  Thad got straight A's!!!  He is so proud of them and we are too.  I didn't get straight A's til I was in 6th grade.
I'm so glad the kids are adjusting so well to the new school.

Norma goes for a Ride

The last day of school before Christmas break, Norma came home and told me that she had won a limo ride.  I didn't think much of it.  Not that Norma is a story teller, just that it sounded like maybe she had played a game where she won this.  She was telling me all about it and I told her that they would send something home to tell me about it when it would happen, (if it would happen).  The boys then told me that they did hear her name called for a limo ride.  O-kay.

I didn't think much of it til they went back to school.  Norma came home with a permission slip and not much more information than she had been picked to go for a limo ride and they needed the permission slip back the next day.  No day of when they were going, no reason she had been picked and what it was for.  No nothing.

Monday Norma came home and all she could do was talk about going for a limo ride tomorrow.  Tucker said that he had heard that it was on the 8th and that 1 person from each class was picked for reading in the school reading program.  Norma was just the lucky one to be picked.

They got to go for a ride around town and then to Burger King for an ice cream cone.  She said that they had gone to McDonald's first and they didn't have any ice cream.

I wish I would have known a bit more information.  I would have come to the school and taken a picture of Norma with the limo.  I think she will remember this for the rest of her life.  I told her that the only time I had gone in a limo was our wedding day.

Got to love Wendover when a day out on the town is ice cream at Burger King.

My Life

For the next 5 years.

I have started school and it is going to be a busy few years for me.  I hope I can make it work...

Now if I can just figure out Windows 8 and a new photo program.

Thank you Kathryn!

Thanks Kathryn for the Christmas present.  We loved watching a movie while we drove to Utah county this last time. :0)

*To the comments on how cold it looks.  It was.  Our heater didn't work the whole drive and we was -6 outside most of the drive.*

Cold

I can not even tell you how cold it has been here.  In the single digits at the warmest part of the day.
But it makes for a pretty picture when you look out the window.  We have also gotten a few more inches of snow with what we call "fog snow".
