Baseball Season Has Began

Our boys are on the same baseball team this year and they had a hard time finding coaches so Nate is their coach.  The next two months of the Powell's lives will be baseball, school and more baseball.  Nate is excited to be doing this with the boys and the boys are loving having their dad be their coach.

Internal Struggle

I had quite the moment this morning while getting ready for my walk.  I was trying to hurry because Katy had slept in and I let her, (She is just like Norma if she is woke up, not a happy camper) so I sent her to go potty while I gathered clothes and shoes.  I was in the middle of putting on shoes when I heard a huge splash.  I knew immediately that Katy had fallen into the toilet.  I looked up, noticed that her potty seat was still on the floor and had the thought, "Do I grab the camera or be the good Mom and just go get her?"  All of this went through my mind in a matter of moments.  I threw my shoe and sock that I hadn't gotten on yet and ran to the bathroom.  Here is my baby with her feet in the air and her elbows hanging on the the edge of the toilet for dear life.  I grabbed her right out and held her close while I laughed into her hair so she wouldn't see me.  "I fell in!", is all she could cry.  Needless to say, she got a bath before our walk.  Now I'm wishing I hadn't been such a good of a Mom and taken a picture. :0)

Spur of the Moment

We needed to stop at the mall on our way to Utah County this weekend, I needed something for school, and we walked by Clarie's with the Free Piercing sign.  We have talked about getting both girls ears pierced for awhile, if we were going to wait til they were 8, if we were going to have them done together and if it was just a good time.  We decided to walk in and look.  Norma found some that she wanted and said she wanted to do it.  We gave her plenty of chances to back out but she decided that today was the day.

As soon as Norma got in the chair, Katy took off.  She was not going to go anywhere near that chair.

I just love these next pictures.  Norma was amazing!!!  She was so calm and ready for her ears to be pierced.  We talked about how it was just going to feel like a hard pinch.
This is after.  She only yelled Ouch once.  No tears or anything.  She yells more in the morning brushing her hair than she did getting her ears pierced.

Hello Kitty earrings and one happy girl!
We got to see Gerald and Deborah for the weekend so that just made it even better!  We loved spending time with the family and being in town.  We always have so much to do when we come to town but seeing family is always the best part.  :0)

Pinewood Derby, Wendover Style

We just found out on Sunday that the Pinewood Derby would be last night.  I asked if our boys could bring their cars that they made last year to race and they let us.

Katy loved the tables full of fruit and cookies.
Tucker was sad that he is no longer in Cub scouts and they wouldn't let him run his car til the end.
Thad was just so happy to be included.

Thad came in last time every time he ran but he didn't let him get it down.  I know, a first time for everything. :0) But I loved that he loved running.  I just love that I caught him in the air and his fingers just going.
Tucker and Thad loved running against each other at the end.  Tuckers came in first but still it never got Thad down.  I was so proud of him.
Yeah for being involved with scouts again!

New Neighbor

We had the new neighbors move in this last week and we are so happy they are here!  Karlee and Will are the newest addition to UHP Camp Gumbo.  It was Sarah's birthday and I wanted her to feel special so I made lunch and my first every cheesecake and had the ladies over for games.  I am so lucky to have these two ladies live by me.  They make is so much easier to be here.

Garden of Gumbo

There happen to be a plot of dirt that was good enough for us to plant in so we wouldn't have to bring in any dirt for our garden this year.  We were so sad that we weren't going to be able to plant one.  We got all our plants and stuff while in Utah County this last weekend and made a family night out of it with the neighbors to plant it.  Nate worked so hard on the fence, you can move the front part out of the way so we can get to the garden to weed it.  We knew we would need something to keep the bunnies, dogs and kids out.  :0)

*Update.  Yes, it died.  Everything we planted died with the hard freeze that came through the week after planting.  We'll learn to never plant early again. *

Words from a Prophet

I was amazed at my children this conference.  Not only did they sit and listen to the whole conference with me, they took notes, and took in the messages.  I am one lucky mom to have the Spirit so strong in our home this weekend.

Two Front Teeth

I think this girl is going to have a hard time eating for the next few weeks.  The two other teeth on the front are loose too.  She will be toothless in no time.

Letter from Romania

What a wonderful thing to come home to!  A letter from Romania!  We are so blessed to have Glade and Diane in our lives and for their service to the Lord at this time!

Loved Our Vaca

Here are a few other pictures.  The kids loved this huge bear.

There was a walking trail that we took down to the little market.  Too bad it was closed when we got there.  But it was a nice walk.  It showed Nate and I that training for this relay race in Wendover is so not working.  It is flat out here, we are in for a hard time.

As we left, we stopped to get some family pictures.

We liked making lots of stops.   One of them was at Smith and Edwards, which is Nate's new favorite store.  All the kids liked getting a bag of candy for a buck.  When I turned to check on Katy, she had all three suckers open and licking them each in turn. Silly girl.

Swimming, the Favorite Part

We were lucky to have a pool right out our door that was heated and not in the lake.  We had to stop and buy swim suits for Thad and Katy.  I still can't believe I got her a two piece but man she loves it.

The kids could have stayed in the pool the whole time.  Norma and Tucker were very proud that they learned to go under water without plugging their noses.  Tucker would even try a bit of swimming under water.  I can't wait to put them in swimming lessons for the summer.

Bear Lake Beach

We were invited by my SIL Celest to go to Bear Lake for Spring Break.  We jumped at the chance to spend a little time away with family in a condo with a pool and right by the lake.  Awesome.
We did not realize that we would be there during the off season and nothing would be open.  We had to park outside the gate and walk down to the beach.  It was windy but it was so awesome being on the beach.  We plan on going back when it is warm so we can play in the water and play on the beach.

Loved watching this little girl run in the sand.  She was in heaven.

We wrote names in the sand.

The kids had a blast looking for seashells.  They came home with handfuls of them.
