I wish I would remember to take a before and after picture for things like this. I cut Katy's hair. It was down past the middle of her back but didn't look it because of all the curls. I had her in the bath and she was crying about me combing it and I told Nate to grab the hair scissors. Off went 5 inches! Both Nate and I cried when we put it in the toilet to flush it and it curled up.
When I got her out and was finishing up she kept crying, "My Hair! My Hair!" It was so cute and sad at the same time.
It is so much nicer to comb through. She doesn't cry and she lets me do it again!

Memorial Day
What a day! So many things happened on this day. Here is some of it in pictures.
My sister Winni let me borrow her camera til I can get a new one and it took me a minute to change the setting for better pictures. Thad and Tucker are helping trim the grass around Grandma's headstone. Thad loved having the big job with the grass trimmers.
As we were all standing there, this lady totally ran over a HUGE rock that was on the corner of the lot. All the guys ran over and told her to quit driving because it was under her truck and she was going to damage her truck trying to drive off of it. Nate got the chains out of the back of our car and Devin pulled it out with his truck. To get it the last little but they actually had to lift the truck. It was insane!
Grandpa gave each of the grandkids a red rose to put on Grandma's grave. They were her favorite.
Missing some grandkids here. Justin's family was very missed.
Again, only missing Justin.
I love our new tradition of a BBQ and games at the Elementary school by Glade and Diane's house! It has to be my new favorite thing to do on Memorial Day. Katy loved being at the play ground. She thinks she is a big kid now that she can do the slide all on her own. :0)
I was so thankful to everyone for including Thad and Tucker so much. Nate had to work. Of course. He said that he will work every Memorial Day. It is harder to get off then Christmas.
Thad and Tucker each got a turn pitching for kick ball and loved every minute of it!
After the kick ball game, they broke out baseball. The boys were sad that I didn't bring their mitts but Nana had extra. About half way through the game, Glade was going for a ball and fell. He stood up and said, "I'm going to the hospital." He had broke his wrist, having to have surgery where they put a "t" plate, 9 pins and 4 screws in his wrist. Diane said that he is grounded from baseball Forever!

Mommy's Little Helper
I have been sewing a lot lately. When don't I? :0) Yesterday, as I was ironing I turned to see this...
She was so intent on getting it right. She knew that something had to come down and she knew where to look for it to make it come down. She was pushing buttons and twisting knobs. I was so glad it was off.
I may have a lot of help in a few years with my sewing. Norma says that her favorite part is watching me cut out the fabric. I told her that can be her job. It's my least favorite. I just like sewing them all together.
I have to say that I'm a very happy that these have turned out as well as they have. I had to take them with my phone because our camera has broke. Again. No warranty this time. :0( But I have a very smart husband who helped me figure out how to get them from the email to here. Thanks Hunny!

Motor's Graduation
Nathan has graduated from Motor's! He has worked really hard the last two weeks and it has paid off. He is now on the Motor's Squad for the Highway Patrol. He will be on a bike as long as it is good weather. We were able find a sitter for Norma for the morning and we took Katy in his Patrol car.
Katy wasn't the best but not nearly as bad as Thad was when Nate graduated from the Prison Post school.
Nate got the Vise-Grip Award from the Instructors. He will tell you the story if you want to hear it. ;0)
I was able to pin his "Wings" on and he is so excited to have them.
Nate's Highway Friends that got there wings today too.
This is where Katy sat.
Katy and her Daddy. She still wasn't happy that we had handed her over to a stranger.
We had a very nice lunch, in the rain but with all the hard work Nate has done, it was worth being there for him. I'm so proud of you!

This Instructor offered to hold Katy while I pinned Nate's wings on. She wasn't having any of it. |

Pictures from the Race
Thank you so much to Amy and Becky! If it wasn't for them, you would not get to enjoy these. ;0)
I laughed when I saw this one. We are all looking at the map on my number. |
Norma didn't leave Nana's side the whole day. |

Just so you know
It may look like we haven't done much. I just haven't taken pictures. :0) But I have done a bunch of things from Pinterest and shared all of it on here. ;0)
Notice the Shoes
She wanted to go outside so bad.
At least she put on shoes. AND they are on the right feet this time. ;0)

Race for the Cure
You will never believe it. Not in a million years. Yep. I forgot my camera!!! It is amazing that I seem to forget that thing on the most important picture taking days.
It was an early morning. We got up at 5am to get ready and out the door to ride Trax. The kids just love riding Trax and we like the hassle free traveling. ;0) Katy had gone to bed not feeling well the night before so we gave her medicine and she slept most of the morning.
I have to say that I was a little disappointed with the Race this year. They didn't have nearly as many things as they did last year for the kids to do. It didn't seem as put together and on top of things but it was still worth going.
The kids loved it! They really wanted to run it but we walked the 1 mile with Grandpa, Nana and Heidi. It wasn't really a mile. I've made it a goal to be able to run the 5k with the kids next year. I have a whole year to get so that I can run. :0)
I had made tutu's for the girls to wear. Katy would never try it on for me before hand. She was so tired that she couldn't tell me no when I put it on her. Norma got her hair colored pink and the Kids Corner and I am so mad about not having a camera.
I can not wait to do it again. This is a great time for the kids to remember their Grandma and to know about all that can happen in our family with this cancer. My girls will live with the fear of breast cancer their whole lives and if coming and running/walking this race can help, we will do it every year!
I begged Amy and Becky to take pictures for me so when they email me what they have, I'll post them.

School is Busy
This week for the kids have been super busy. Thad had a field trip to the bean museum on Wednesday that I totally forgot about and went to the store after I picked up carpool for Tucker and when I got home I thought Thad had just rode his bike home fast. No. He had been at the house by his self for an hour.
Norma had a field trip today to the Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. She was super excited because she got to ride a bus, take a lunch and go when Thad went to school. She loved petting the animals.
Tucker had his PX presentation this morning too. Grandpa and Nana were able to come and watch with me. He did a wonderful job. He talked like he really knew his stuff and answered all the questions that the kids had for him. He will be showing it again on Thursday the 17th at 5:30 at the school if anyone wants to come see. :0)
Katy being so good just sitting there watching Tucker give his presentation. |
I had a hard time being just Katy and I at home all day without Norma. It will be a long year next year with just the two of us home. I hope that it will be good. ;0)

Sleep, Who Needs it
By the end of the day, my family will be telling me that I need it.
Katy has not been sleeping. She is throwing fits and screaming without any reason that we can figure out. I have been putting her in her room for these but when she does it at 1 o'clock in the morning!!!!!
Needless to say, I didn't sleep at all because when I would get her to go to bed, she would only stay there if I was on the floor next to her. LONG NIGHT!
Please, if anyone has any suggestions, they are welcome.
